Core Exercises
Ever wonder what a core brace actually is? Your core is more than your abdominal muscles- it’s comprised of your diaphragm muscle (aka your breathing muscle), your abs, and your pelvic floor. When you brace your core- all of these muscles work as a team to stabilize your spine and your pelvis.
The biggest myth I hear perpetuated during pregnancy is that you are not supposed to work your core when you’re pregnant- THIS IS NOT TRUE!! The stronger your core is, the better! Strong cores help minimize pain during pregnancy, assist with labor, and facilitate recovery postpartum.
If you were already doing core exercises or pilates on your own before pregnancy- keep it up! If not, here are a few ideas of exercises to incorporate into your routine to keep your core strong!
**Watch for doming during core exercises and if you note it, modify or try a different exercise :)
