Opening Different Parts of Your Pelvis

As you labor, your baby is going to move down through your pelvis- from the top portion all the way to the bottom. There are different movements and stretches you can do to maximize space in each section of your pelvis (the top portion, the middle section, and the bottom portion) to help facilitate this process

Knowing how and when to utilize different movements during labor can reduce the total amount of time it takes baby to descend down your pelvis (stage 1 of labor) and reduce the total amount of time you’re pushing (stage 2 of labor). Both of these can reduce risk of complications!

One of my favorite sayings during labor is “motion is lotion” which is a cute way of saying the more you move, the quicker things are going to progress. The best thing you can do during any stage of labor is get your body moving!

***This might be when you think, “but I am going to get an epidural, how can I move"?”

Good News! There are sooo many different ways you can move if you have an epidural- check out our ‘epidural video’ for more information :)
